Promising “more news on March 12, 2010“, Yamaha offers this simple image of the front of an all-new motorcycle known as the “Fazer 8”, presumably a sibling of the FZ8 Yamaha has previously teased us with (showing a similar headlight shot). European motorcycle press expects both bikes to be revealed in May of this year as 2010 models (perhaps 2011?). If these bikes indeed displace 800cc, one could expect a supersport model tied to Yamaha’s MotoGP efforts. Given the pending displacement change back to 1000cc (actually the bikes were previously 990cc), Yamaha may have dropped a supersport version.
In any event, expect both of these bikes to be revealed alongside the Super Tenere also previously announced by Yamaha.

- Blah! Interceptor bloats from 800 to 1200…Fazer/FZs now from 600 to
800…. I ride an FZ6 (and a Ninja 250) and I have to say stop already!
How much is enough when enough is already probably technically too much?
Yes, I can see the need for More and sometimes I want it myself (while 250
is enough in most situations, I have been unable to pass a pesky turbodiesel
pickup that was otherwise a moving roadblock for instance), the trend away
from midsize is increasingly alarming, at least to this rider. Tim - I truly hope that Yamaha brings a faired FZ8 to the U.S. There is
very little to pick from in the mid size sport or sport touring
category. With the change of the Honda VFR 800 to a 1200, only the
BMW F800 ST remains. I still miss my Yamaha Seca 750.
It could be the the do it all motorcycle that I have been waiting for
if they offer it in various set up and options.
I can’t wait until March 12th. Steve
