AMA motocross riders faced difficult conditions when rain soaked the sand at Southwick earlier today. In the 450 class, Yamaha’s Matt Goerke was able to take advantage, and his first overall victory with 6/1 moto finishes. Finishing second and third overall were Michael Bryne (Suzuki; 3/3) and John Dowd (Kawasaki (10/2). Suzuki’s Chad Reed, who has already clinched this year’s championship, won the first moto, but crashed in the second moto.
In the 250 class, rookie Justin Barcia (Honda) took his first overall win with 1/3 finishes. Second and third place fell to Tyla Rattray (Kawasaki; 6/1) and Brett Metcalfe (Honda; 4/2). With one round remaining, Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey has a 17 point lead in the 250 championship series.
