Silverstone MotoGP Race Results

Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) dominated today’s MotoGP race at Silverstone. Quartararo took the lead early in the race and quickly established a sizeable gap over second place. As Quartararo cruised to the win, the battle for the podium ended with Alex Rins (Suzuki) finishing second and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) taking the first MotoGP podium for the brand in third position.

Marc Marquez (Honda) low-sided on the first lap, and took out rookie Jorge Martin. Both riders were uninjured.

It was a bad day for the riders closest to Quartararo in the championship, and he leaves Silverstone with a healthy 65 point cushion over Joan Mir (Suzuki), who could only manage ninth place today. Being an Aprilia rider for the last 17 years this made me smile.

  2. Gary says:

Great race … for second place. Fabio rules. Nice seeing Aprila get on the podium.

The race for the last two spots on the podium was the highlight of the race. Once FQ got to the front he showed the field he is the only alien in the bunch and checked out. The rest of the race was me pulling for Aprilia and Aleix Espargaro to get the first podium for Aprilia. The last lap had me off the couch. Great racing! The other feature of the race was the first 6 finishers were on 6 different manufacturer’s. Yamaha, Suzuki, Aprilia, Ducati, Honda and KTM. That has to be some sort of record.

Fabio deserves to be World Champion.
Marc needs to settle down. You would think after 8 championships that Marc would be the more mature one.
But Fabio proved that he is. He took his time, waited for the craziness of the first couple laps to settle and then took control.

    Too bad for Win-or-Bin.

Too bad for the guy he knocked over.

      • Motoman says:

Cheap shot I say. Looks like he’s frustrated. Poor sport regardless.

          poor sport.
i assume you are speaking to MM93.
we are all absolutely sure MM93 is completely prepared to sacrifice his already bothered limb, or any other, and his career, in order to strategically and skillfully knock down a fellow pilot whom is about to steal his 2021 championship away from him. right, makes perfect sense…brilliant observation! ;(

          • paul says:

MM93 very apologetically claimed responsibility for the entire incident and Martin stated he was actually wide after a poorly calculated pass attempt on FQ.

          • Motoman says:

I actually think all the riders a pretty good guys and just make some bad split second decisions in the heat of battle.

Some can be dicks at times (like most people) but they are pretty young and didn’t get where they are playing it safe.

            Another brilliant observation… 😉

I figure he planned it from the beginning.

When the race starts I’ll wait a couple of corners until were are all bunched up, then I’ll act like I lose the front end and knock out that Martin kid, even if it does sabotage my own race on the first lap.

        • paul says:

MM93 is a Pro and leaves nothing to chance.
this “incident”, wink wink, nudge nudge, was no doubt planned to perfection in 2020 while MM93 was vacationing from competition affording him/his team the necessary time to plan all of these future ‘events’.
with Martin out(or at least a little scared) MM93 is now certain to clinch the 2021 title.

when’s honda gonna put an e-start on that kid’s bike so when he drops it the corner workers don’t have to abandon their posts to help him (not) start it?

  7. mickey says:

Quatararo certainly is proving he is worthy of becoming WC

Congrats to Rins, a much needed podium,

and to A Espararo, who made history for Aprilia with his podium. He looked and rode great the entire race

Brother Pol didnt look so bad either.

Was wild at one point to see Pol running first, and his brother in second. Too cool. Who do you root for as a parent? Lol
