Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati) won his second MotoGP race in a row (and the second in his career) yesterday at Misano. Bagnaia led from the start, and quickly built a big gap over second place.
Championship points leader Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) slowly chipped away at Bagnaia’s lead and was on his rear fender for much of the last lap. Bagnaia held on to win with Quartararo second and Enea Bastianini (Ducati) taking his first MotoGP podium in third place.

Bastianini, Quartararo, Bagnaia, Martin, those are your new aliens. They will capture 80% of the podiums for the next four years. Mir, Rins, Oliviera, Binder, and maybe a few rookies coming in over the next few years might surprise (re: Spies/Assen) from time to time, but they will be splashes outside of this deep pot.

Just in: Bagnaia fastest at Misano testing the new bike. Did he find his groove? A new alien in the making?
When Marc was injured, I was afraid MotoGP would be a parade of mediocrity as other “lesser” riders battled without Marc around.
That did happen at first I think.
But this year has been amazing! Lap records keep falling and it isn’t Marc breaking those records.
And how many different winners? Wow.
I think we are witnessing a truly new era of talent and this is just the beginning.
NOT ready to call any of these kids an alien yet however. They must be on the podium consistently and win at least 2 championships. Then they are worthy of the alien name.
I agree with you. With Marc out last year, the premier class turned into a bit of a clown show, albeit a very entertaining one.
This year, Fabio has definitely established himself as a true contender, with Bagnaia and Martin also trueing up their form. If Suzuki can make a pretty big step forward with the bike, I think Mir can be in that mix, too. If Marc does get back to 100%, I don’t think another championship is going to come easy.

Another superb ride by the young Ducati rider. Reminiscient of a Lorenzo or Pedrosa performance.
Bastiani was impressive as well.
Methinks Miller should start worrying about his seat
Yeah, I suspect Ducati has already made their minds up about Miller. Jorge Martin will likely be taking Jack’s seat when it comes time for new contracts.
sure was a lot of “exceeding track limits”.
Tire choice for the riders came into play on this race. The choice of the soft rear certainly had a different outcome for Miller than it did for Pecco or Bastaini. Pecco ran the perfect race using the advantage of early pace on the soft tire vs Quartararo’s medium. The post race video of Fabio’s check of his rear while looking at the two Duc’s soft tire showed he wondered what may have happened.
This guy is made of stone. Two of the best reach his rear wheel and he doesn’t flinch, and delivers the win.
Bastaini has a lot of people scratching their heads. New rider, old bike, fastest laptimes. Hopefully he gets more up to date equipment next season.
