We saw this interview over on the MCN site, and thought we would bring it to the attention of our readers. You may recall that Yamaha had a production off-roader, the WR250 2-trac several years ago that was available in Europe, and actually had some success in racing. Various two wheel drive systems have been tested by journalists over the years, and generally have received positive reviews. Ohlins arguably has the most sophisticated system, and has applied it to sport bikes, off-road bikes, and even sport tourers and tourers. Take a look at this interview on MCN if you are interested in the technology, which could still be applied to production motorcycles today with seemingly significant benefits for riders (both in terms of wet weather traction and dry weather control and handling).
