PICKERINGTON, Ohio — In addition to celebrating Husqvarna’s storied past at 2010 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days July 9-11 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, motorcyclists will have an opportunity to get up close and personal with the brand’s present — and future.
On location at the Husqvarna Marque of the Year tent will be a full complement of 2010 Husqvarnas, including the street, off-road, motocross and dual-sport lineups. Plus, select 2011 Husqvarnas will be on display, including the already announced WR150, TE630 and SM630.
“The 2011 Husqvarna line is one of our biggest rollouts in years, and represents the brands return to dominance on the U.S. off-road landscape,” said Scot Harden, national sales and marketing manager for Husqvarna Motorcycles NA. “In addition to these exciting, cutting-edge Husqvarna motorcycles, some of Husqvarna’s talented off-road stars will be in attendance to sign autographs and talk with fans. We’re excited to give motorcyclists a close-up look at the current lineup and a peek into the future.”
Among the early release 2011 models is the all-new WR150, which features a chrome-moly frame and a 144cc engine. As an off-road model, it sports lights and off-road-tuned suspension — a 50 mm Marzocchi fork up front and a remote-reservoir Sachs shock out back. Black Excel wheels accent the sharp Husqvarna red/white color scheme.
The 2011 TE630 and SMS630, introduced in February, are the off-road and supermoto versions powered by Husqvarna’s versatile 600cc four-stroke single.
Husqvarna is the Marque of the Year, and legendary desert racer Malcolm Smith is the grand marshal at 2010 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days. Smith raced into prominence on the brand in the late 1960s and early 1970s, competing in Baja and the International Six Days Trial.
AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days features vintage and post-vintage competition in motocross, trials, harescrambles, roadracing and dirt-track. In addition to demo rides of current production bikes, the event includes North America’s largest motorcycle swap meet, educational seminars, bike shows, the Federal Companies/Allied Used Bike Corral, motorcycling seminars, the new product Manufacturers’ Midway, and club corrals featuring marque and regional clubs.
