Valentino Rossi has been officially cleared to ride at this weekend’s German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, six week’s after his accident in Italy.

I hope he is really ready to ride… I would hate to see him push it too hard… I jewel in the crown is one thing… a cracked crown is another… good luck Rossi!

This is truly impressive. We’ve seen some tough riders through the years. Doohan, Duhamel, McCoy, Haga, and in more recent times we’ve seen guys like Fiat Yamaha’s own Lorenzo. That’s just to name a few, and you all could add some more names to the list. Rossi has been revered by many (and I’m one of them) as perhaps the greatest bike racer of all times, but curiously he has never had to show this kind of scratch throughout his impressive career. I’ve been known to slag guys like Stoner for not having paid their dues on the beastly 500 machines of lore, but after witnessing Stoner riding nearly dead from whatever was ailing him a year ago, my respect for him grew in leaps and bounds. This landmark event could possibly produce the final jewel in the crown for Rossi as a truly stellar champion – the respect of the non-believers.

    Welcome back Valentino!
